Happy Thanksgiving!

Baking for the Community

While the maintenance staff worked on cleaning out the sewer pipes at Westshire, and you all got a few "surprise days" at home with your kids, the preschool teachers made plans for what we would do with the preschoolers if we were displaced to the Vershire Community Building. Not knowing if we would be holding preschool there for a day, a week, months, or as it turned out, not at all, we made plans that we could carry out regardless of location. Since it was Thanksgiving time, we decided that a fun project for the preschoolers to embark on would be to bake for people in the community who could use a little cheer and some homemade baked goods.
As you know, we got very lucky and were able to stay at Westshire and cook from here. We made 8 loaves of bread and 7 plates of cookies for various people in the community and one grampa who has been at the hospital for a while. Of course, we did sample one loaf and some cookies to make sure they were edible 😉. After finishing the baking, Jen Shatney, a friend from Fairlee whose daughter attended Westshire, came and helped us deliver our baked goods to two women in walking distance. The kids were thrilled to meet some of the people who we baked for. Jen then drove the baked goods to 5 other people who live too far for us to walk and deliver them. What a fun experience.
