Montshire Museum - Magnets
Magnets with the Montshire The preschoolers and kindergarteners were given an opportunity to explore magnetism through trial and error. They made predictions and then experimented to see if their predictions were correct or not. While experimenting, they came up with theories (metal is always magnetic) and then tested those theories (no, not all metal is magnetic). While working with partners, the students had to take turns, listen to their partner, and communicate their ideas. It was fun to have an educator from the Montshire come in, bring new materials, and help the kids explore materials in a way we hadn't explored them before. It was also fun to have the kindergartners join us for the lesson.
